Zeus North America Mining Corp. (CSE: ZEUS)(OTC: ZUUZF) CEO Dean Besserer on Exploring a New Copper Porphyry Belt
Gerardo Del Real: This is Gerardo Del Real with Resource Stock Digest. Joining me today is the President and CEO of Zeus North America Mining, Mr. Dean Besserer. Dean, it's great to have you back on. It's been a bit. How are you today?
Dean Besserer: I am great. Thanks for having me.
Gerardo Del Real: Well, let's get right into it. You had a news release about a week or so ago, and of course we all know we have record high gold prices. We have record high copper prices. I think anybody that's in the business for any amount of time can see a clear trend. Those are likely headed higher. And you recently had a quote in a news release, and I'm going to read it verbatim because I want to make sure I get it correct. But you said,
"This is one of the largest staking rushes I've ever seen in my career. Many still don't recognize the magnitude of this discovery, as it has unveiled a new and previously unknown porphyry copper belt."
Obviously, these latest results and the most recent discovery in the staking very, very beneficial to Zeus. But before we talk specifically about Zeus and why it's beneficial, can you tell me a bit about just the sentiment in the area and the amount of interest that you're seeing, because it's pretty significant.
Dean Besserer: Well, it's pretty crazy. They're in Idaho right now, just trying to get accommodation. If you show up there and you're just hoping to go out to site and visit the crew, it's not going to happen. There's no accommodation anywhere. There's Barrick and Rio trucks and Teck Cominco trucks going in all directions. And yeah, the forest service roads are jam full of geologists. It's a crazy time up there for sure.
Gerardo Del Real: Well, let's talk about how it absolutely benefits Zeus and how Zeus plans to take advantage of it. What does that look like for the company?
Dean Besserer: Well, look, it's just we had a prime piece of real estate in that belt that we now know is a porphyry copper belt. We're adjacent to the Leviathan discovery. And with all the excitement in the area, we're seeing it not only in the market, but we're seeing it from the majors, we're seeing it from the retail investors. Everybody's calling and they want to know more about this. So it's really exciting because as you know, the small cap space has been pretty quiet for a few years, so it's good to see a lot of interest.
Gerardo Del Real: Can you speak to the structural similarities between the big discovery next door and what Zeus has on its hands? And I know it's a lot of early work right now, mapping it and sampling it and working up the targets there, but can you speak to what you see as similar that kind of stands out to you with everything that you've done thus far?
Dean Besserer: Yeah. Well, we really tried to reiterate that we have the exact same geology. We have a number of high-grade silver showings in the Rhyolite, which is now we know is thrust over the volcanics which host the porphyry mineralization. We are in one of these windows where we don't have this basalt cover covering the area and masking everything. We're just really an exact lookalike to the Hercules property, or at least the initial Hercules property. And now, of course, everyone's gone on the back of that. They were able to quietly go out and grab a whole bunch more land before they told the world, so kudos to them.
Gerardo Del Real: What comes next for Zeus?
Dean Besserer: Just more boots on the ground and hoping to really show what our anomalies look like to the world and show that we really are analogous, and get up those targets going and just be the next player in the region.
Gerardo Del Real: Well, I'm looking forward to that. Your timing is excellent. We have a great macro market in the copper space. How do you view that?
Dean Besserer: Yeah, it certainly helps. I think it's rare we're actually seeing that trickle down into the small cap space right now, again, which hasn't happened for some time. So you see companies that have amazing gold properties out there, but gold's at $2,400 an ounce and nobody's calling still. So certainly the more strategic metals are getting the first glance right now, and that's exciting for us.
Gerardo Del Real: Well, exciting times in the space, looking forward to more data and eventually testing the targets that the company is busy developing. Thank you again, Dean.
Dean Besserer: All right. I appreciate you. Take care.
Gerardo Del Real: All right. Chat soon now. Cheers.
