Angold Resources (TSX-V: AAU)(OTC: AAUGF) CEO Adrian Rothwell on Hitting 248 Meters at 0.75 g/t in Step-Out Hole at Dorado
Gerardo Del Real: This is Gerardo Del Real with Resource Stock Digest. Joining me today is the CEO of Angold Resources, Mr. Adrian Rothwell. Adrian, how are you today?
Adrian Rothwell: Good. Thanks Gerardo. Thanks for having me on the show again.
Gerardo Del Real: Well, what a difference a few weeks makes, right? Gold has had itself a great couple of months actually, but specifically the last two weeks I think we're getting to see some more confidence in this space. You had some excellent, excellent timing on your news that you published on the 25th. Let me read the headline. Let me congratulate you. Angold drills 248 meters at 0.75 g/t. That's in a step-out hole at the Dorado Project of course in Chile. That mineralization started, that particular intercept at 168 meters in hole three. There was another intercept in hole two of 30 meters at 1.24 g/t gold that commenced at 408 meters. And in hole four, you had an 84 meter intercept of 0.40 g/t gold beginning at the 166 meter level. Congratulations on the step-out. Walk me through what this means moving forward. You announced five holes from the Lajitas area. It seems like it's growing. It seems like it's getting bigger and the continuity seems pretty consistent.
Adrian Rothwell: Yeah. So we released holes one through six now in their entirety. We've got three more holes pending assay. So what does it mean? I mean, this is a story on an existing resource and we're looking at expanding the resource. So when you're doing that, an 80 meter step-out and a long intercept at that means good news. And we're at the point now where we're really mapping this and looking at really what is the actual impact in terms of numbers. But I'll take an 80 meter step-out any day. And actually the thing that excites me a lot is the intercept as well we got on hole two.
It's only 30 meters but a great grade, 1.24 g/t. And we think that this is a step-out into the east, at depth in the east zone. So that has a potential. Now, we'll certainly keep all of our shareholders apprised of what this means. Once we've done a little bit more desktop mapping, we'll release the conclusions that we make on all of this program this year in time for when we'll be drilling again, which will happen pretty soon.
Gerardo Del Real: Let me also compliment you, Adrian on the context and the geology section of your news release. Your cross sections are great, frankly. And frankly, there's many companies in the junior space that don't take the time to put the cross section into context. You not only show the drill results published on the 25th, but you also show how they relate to the historical drilling. So let me compliment you on that. I couldn't help but notice that in that section, you also talk about the presence of two distinct types of gold-bearing mineralization. You not only have the porphyry style veins, but you also have epithermal style veins. That allows you to target multiple deposit types, correct?
Adrian Rothwell: Yeah, that's right. And potentially target a much wider area of alteration than perhaps what we would be looking at if it was only a porphyry center. And that really speaks volumes when you start looking at the Lajitas South target that we released just a couple of weeks ago. We spoke about that, Gerardo, a few weeks ago. But that is the porphyry center where we have gold at surface, and it's surrounded by an epithermal ring and multiple epithermal zones. So right now we're doing some drill targeting on that area. It's allowed us to look at multiple opportunities. And this has got the potential to be a big system. It is a big system. It has the potential to be a big resource.
Gerardo Del Real: Exactly, exactly. And then that's where I was going. Not only does it have the potential to be a significant resource, but there's also the potential for multiple deposit types, right?
Adrian Rothwell: Yeah, that's right. So you could end up in a situation where either it's got multiple pits or you have ... If our suspicions are accurate, we may end up in a situation where Lajitas South is a continuous or a continuation of the Lajitas resource. And that would make that area a very large deposit area. Lajitas South in itself is about 1.8 by 2.2 kilometers of alteration. And it's about one kilometer south of Lajitas. So of course only more drilling will tell us what that really means.
Gerardo Del Real: I'm looking forward to details of the next drilling season. You said that won't take too long. It sounds like you're regrouping right now as we speak and look forward to getting you back on, Adrian. Thanks for taking the time today. I appreciate it.
Adrian Rothwell: Yeah, you're welcome Gerardo. And remember, we still have the three holes coming from this season of drilling. And we've left the camp at site so we can start quickly after winter.
Gerardo Del Real: You're off to a heck of a start. So congrats.
Adrian Rothwell: Thanks, Gerardo.
Gerardo Del Real: Thank you.
