FinEx Metals (TSX-V: FINX) Chairman Tero Kosonen on Completion of Initial Drill program on Ruoppa Gold Project
Gerardo Del Real: This is Gerardo Del Real with Resource Stock Digest. Joining me today is the Chairman of FinEx Metals (TSX-V: FINX), Mr. Tero Kosonen. Tero, great to have you on. How are you today, sir?
Tero Kosonen: Thank you very much. Good to talk to you again, Gerardo. How are you doing?
Gerardo Del Real: I'm doing great. Let's get right into it. We have the market that we've been waiting years for. We chatted a bit off-air. You and I were fortunate enough to catch up at the Beaver Creek Precious Metals Summit, and so, I think that's a great place to start. I would love to hear your take on the sentiment there. And then I want to follow that up by talking about the completion of the initial drilling program with assays that a lot of us shareholders are eagerly waiting on. But first and foremost, what was your take from Beaver Creek?
Tero Kosonen: Absolutely. It was a pleasure meeting you there as well, and what a beautiful summit it was. In all sense, beautiful location, as you know, and great venue and whatnot. And the sentiment was just amazing, right? Finally seeing some happy, smiling faces from the CEOs, from the juniors, but we all been suffering for several years, as we both know. But really it seems to be the time right now. Had that before gold, also for silver, copper, uranium but, it's just a very, very good sentiment and I hope it's going to be lasting.
Gerardo Del Real: Well, listen, the really, really life-changing money in this business is really made by getting ahead of the trends, preparing when nobody is preparing, and then being able to capitalize on this type of market. FinEx Metals was really put together years ago when people weren't paying attention, and not just to the precious metals, but to Finland as well. And so, I would love for you to speak a bit about how FinEx came to be, and then let's talk about the exploration update you just provided. You just completed a very, very exciting drill program that we can't wait on assays for. But let's talk about FinEx, the origin story there and how you were able to put together this commanding land package.
Tero Kosonen: Sure, absolutely. You're 100% right. My background as an investor, and I've been waiting for these better times for years and years and years and positioning myself and include the company that I've been incubating, and FinEx would be one of them.
Basically we got started in March, 2021, and really the trigger was Rupert Resource and their fantastic 2020 Ikkari discovery there in northern part of Finland on the same Central Lapland Greenstone Belt where FinEx had its tenement. That really was the trigger. Time flies when you are having fun or, I guess, even if you're not having fun but anyways, it's been four and a half years. Now the market seems to be finally there.
We've been doing really, really systematic work from the very beginning. It's been years and years with very tight limited budget with our great local team there in Finland, operating and really doing all the necessary preparation, exploration work, starting from the soil sampling then going all the way to top-of-bedrock drilling and then trenching. And then finally this year we were ready.
We raised $4.3 million during the first quarter. We got public, and then had a very, very busy summer program with all kinds of work, also looking for new targets. But really the key here is that we were able to do our first ever maiden drill program. We drilled about 2,500 meters. It's not huge, but still, again, the first several in there, 14 holes, going beneath the trenches where we found really, really exciting numbers. And then results are based from the rock samples from last year and really expanding on that program.
And everything went super smooth. Everything was on time, no accidents, nothing, it's 100% safety record in there and test operational efficiency. And right now where we are it's the most exciting part. Maybe the most terrifying part is waiting for the assays. Basically, I think we are about three, four weeks away from maybe getting the results from the first batch. I would estimate sometime in mid-October to latest by early November. And it's super exciting times.
Gerardo Del Real: No, look, assays obviously are... The truth machine is going to deliver what it delivers, and assays are going to be critical here for the next step. But you've done a very, very comprehensive exploration program outside of just the drilling, right? With the trenches and the sampling. And so, explain to me what comes next and what you're hoping to see from the first batch of assays, but then what comes next, which is going to be critical, I think, going into 2026?
Tero Kosonen: That's right. We started with a significant 140 square kilometers large, high resolution aeromagnetic survey, really throughout our property and a bit beyond, to really understanding the geophysics in there. And because basically, we more than tripled our land package from the original local project that we staked in 2021. There's going to be so much more than just whatever the small area for which we’re targeting for which we're having the first-pass drill program this summer, so there's plenty of more.
I would say it's still about maybe 90% of the property is underexplored or even unexplored. There's plenty of room to be working in there. We did a lot of smooth soils, we did a lot of top-of-bedrock sampling, we did trenching and whatnot. Plenty of work has been done on top of the drill program.
Obviously, as you mentioned, the truth machine, we're going to see what the results are and from this first-pass drill program but, plenty of work to be done within the Rouppa Project, other areas. Also remember, we have three other gold properties within FinEx. And then we do have a very, very high commanding package of critical raw materials, tenements and projects in the Eastern Lapland. There's plenty and plenty of optionality within FinEx Metals.
Gerardo Del Real: Now listen, you've positioned shareholders in the company very, very well for this cycle. I'm excited to have you on as soon as those assays are back to talk about what you learned, what you got from them, what things look like, and then what comes after, right?
Tero Kosonen: Absolutely. Always a pleasure.
Gerardo Del Real: Beautiful. Tero, thank you so much. Appreciate the time.
Tero Kosonen: Thank you so much. Bye now.
