K2 Gold (TSX-V: KTO) CEO Steve Swatton on Completed 2019 Exploration Program at the Wels Gold Property in the Yukon
Gerardo Del Real: This is Gerardo Del Real with Resource Stock Digest. Joining me today is the President and CEO of K2 Gold (TSX-V: KTO)(OTC: KTGDF), Mr. Steve Swatton. Steve, you and I spoke about a month or so ago and it feels like it was 10 years ago. First off, how are you? Are you in good health?
Stephen Swatton: Yes. Thanks, Gerardo. I'm fine. I'm in quarantine here in Vancouver. Got back from the States a couple of weeks ago, but like everyone else we're we're dealing with the situation as it arises here.
Gerardo Del Real: The last time we chatted we talked a bit about Wels and the 2019 exploration program. We had talked about the fact that you had some exploration and some fieldwork planned at the Mojave gold property. Can we get an update there?
Stephen Swatton: Sure. I would say we got slightly lucky. We've just completed our exploration program. We've done everything that we said we would do; trenching, soil sampling. The only thing that's outstanding at the moment is because there was still some snow on the ground, we haven't done all of the infrastructural Landsat work. But apart from that, all of the samples are in Canada being processed or have been processed. We have completed and we will be releasing a bunch of news releases going forward as of probably next week.
Gerardo Del Real: Just to be clear, the field program pretty much went according to plan, despite the recent setbacks with COVID-19. Of course the seriousness there. You finished everything.
Stephen Swatton: Absolutely. We couldn't have predicted what happened, but we had just completed. And the final thing that we did there, Gerardo, was, I didn't really mention it last time because in internal records we found maybe some porphyry copper potential on the eastern side of our property. It's a fairly large area. We've now increased the size of our property, almost 6,000 hectares.
We're staking it, so I wanted to stay a little bit coy about what we were doing around down there until we staked it. And I was there whilst the last stakes were driven into the ground. Literally got on the plane, came home and the rest is history.
Gerardo Del Real: Well, I had plans on visiting the property. Those plans are obviously now delayed as is everything else, but I'm thrilled to hear that you completed the exploration program. I'm excited to know that there's plenty of news flow coming over the next several months. And hopefully sometime here soon we'll be back to a new normal and we can meet back down at the property as we had planned.
Steve, is there anything else that you'd like to add?
Stephen Swatton: No, nothing further except for I would say the results themselves will be coming in batches as they come in. We will be evaluating the merits or thereabouts of a drill program going forward.
Gerardo Del Real: Excellent.
Stephen Swatton: Thank you very much, Gerardo.
Gerardo Del Real: Thank you, Steve. Look forward to getting out there. Be safe. Thank you for the update.
Stephen Swatton: Thanks very much.
