Mawson Resources (TSX: MAW) CEO Michael Hudson on High-Grade Results from the Initial Two Holes of the 15,000-Meter Winter Drill Program at Rajapalot Gold Project in Finland
Gerardo Del Real: This is Gerardo Del Real with Resource Stock Digest. Joining me today is the Chairman and CEO of Mawson Resources (TSX: MAW)(OTC: MWSNF), Mr. Michael Hudson. Mike, how are you this afternoon?
Michael Hudson: A little weary after the start of the conference season here in Vancouver, Gerardo. But all is very good, thank you.
Gerardo Del Real: How is the conference? I'm curious to hear your feedback Mike.
Michael Hudson: It's always a bit of a litmus test at the start of the year, the Vancouver Resource Investment Show, and it was busy and pumping. It appears – and we don't want to be self-fulfilling in this industry and always cautious that a little step up won't lead to a step down tomorrow – but it seems a little more sustainable.
Exploration is being rewarded again, which I haven't seen for many years. The value that the engine room of the mining industry in terms of value creation is being recognized again.
Gerardo Del Real: Successful exploration is being rewarded. We spoke a week or two ago in regards to the 15,000-meter 2020 winter drill program for Mawson. You just reported assays from the first two diamond drill holes. It's high grade, it's near surface. It speaks, I believe, to the geologic understanding of the controls.
Can you speak to the release a bit there, Mike? Important news for the company.
Michael Hudson: You said it better than I did actually, Gerardo. It was a very good start. This was extending two of the resource areas, South Palokas and Palokas. With the first two holes we released, we stepped out 20 to 40 meters from the resource boundaries. This will add tonnes and grade to that updated resource that is coming later on this year after the program is finished. Q3, we're targeting that.
We're meeting the aims of the program straight out the gate. They were very good results. They're on the margins of the mineralized bodies we thought, but they actually hit some decent meters, thickness and grade. The highlight there was 9 meters at 6.3 grams gold. The bodies are wider than we thought. That's a great upside. And secondly, as you stated, that we're actually targeting the mineralization based on a geological model and it's working.
Gerardo Del Real: Excellent. Let me provide a bit of context for everybody. Hole 204 intersected 9 meters at 6.3 grams per tonne gold as you mentioned. That was from 93.7 meters. That was at South Palokas. At Palokas hole 0205 intersected 4.5 meters of 4.5 grams per tonne gold from 101 meters. Cobalt and multi-element assays remain pending, correct?
Michael Hudson: Exactly, exactly. And a lot of holes that we're drilling, literally we've got five drill rigs going gangbusters on the ground. There's a hell of a lot more drilling results to come over the next three to four months. We can see this sort of regular news flow. Stay tuned as they say, Gerardo. There's a lot more to come.
Gerardo Del Real: Mike, I know you're busy. I want to thank you for taking the time today and I look forward to chatting. I know you and I will be chatting many, many times here over the next several months as those rigs continue to turn. Thank you again.
Michael Hudson: Thanks a lot, Gerardo. Just if I can mention that the core from these holes is at the Roundup here in Vancouver on Wednesday and Thursday, 22nd and 23rd of January. If anyone's in town and wants to see the results firsthand, please come along and see Dr. Nick Cook.
Gerardo Del Real: Fantastic. Mike, thank you as always.
Michael Hudson: Bye bye
