Q2 Metals (TSX-V: QTWO)(OTC: QUEXF) VPE Neil McCallum on One of the Best Holes at Cisco to Date
Gerardo Del Real: This is Gerardo Del Real with Resource Stock Digest. Joining me today is the VP of Exploration for Q2 Metals (TSX-V: QTWO)(OTC: QUEXF), Mr. Neil McCallum. Neil, great to have you back on. How are you today?
Neil McCallum: I'm great, thanks. How are you?
Gerardo Del Real: I am doing well. I am doing well, thank you for asking. So we now have what is one of the best holes of the Cisco project in terms of total spodumene pegmatite intersected to date? I'm talking of course about hole 36, you just hit a another, by the way, 151 meters of continuous spodumene pegmatite at the project. You knew you had to go follow that hole up that had some phenomenal intercepts prior to. Can you provide the context for this one? It's a monster of a hole.
Neil McCallum: Yeah, absolutely. We knew it was going to be a good hole drilling in the opposite direction of every other drill hole so far in our main zone. The goal of the hole was to get a better understanding of how these pegmatite zones link up and to confirm the width of mineralization in the core part of it. We've had some folks unsure on whether we're drilling down dip into the system and getting these 200 meter hits. That's nonsense, that's too big, that doesn't happen.
And this hole was really to confirm that, okay, yeah, it is that wide. Let's drill a hole the opposite direction to in part, get a better sense of geology and how these pegmatite zones link up where they're a little bit more separate, but as well drill through the main zone in the opposite direction to get folks comfortable with the fact that we're not just drilling in an inappropriate way. So I think we've definitely achieved that. We only got about halfway through the hole before having to shut it down for the goose hunting season. And it was great because this season we started off with lots of core in the core shed, keeping the geos busy. It was another roughly 220 meters of pegmatite in the rest of the hole. If you add up the 150, then the 52 and the 30, so we're more than happy about that.
And actually, on top of it just being a great hole, it's actually deepened the known mineralized extent of the main zone in that area, which is great news as well. So it's going to add to the picture of what we have and it's just confirming the project. So in all regard, it's a great hole to have released as the start of the program for the summer.
Gerardo Del Real: I'm going to ask, and I know you likely can't give me specifics, but I'm going to ask anyway. When you say, some people and folks may have thought, it sounds like you might have people in the data room that are digging into the numbers and digging into the widths of mineralization and just actually can't believe what you guys are coming up with and maybe even asked, can you prove it the other way? And I can't think of a better bowtie on top of this hole here, 36, to confirm that, right?
Neil McCallum: Yeah. Well, I mean people that have actually taken the data, we've got it all published on our website we're not holding anything back they could put that together even without this hole. It's more the folks that are casually looking at it or what have you that might be saying things that aren't true or have a lack of understanding. So this is fully getting all the information out there now, and this hole is doing a great job of getting us toward our next step as the project progresses along the pipeline of what it needs to do to actually get the mineral resource, because it's going to be a great hole to data points all the way along.
So, it's not just to detract people from seeing certain things. It's actually a very useful hole for our current goal, which is going to be what we're doing for the rest of the summer, which is getting this toward an inferred resource as the next step because were getting that exploration target, which will set the expectations. But we're now doing that work to get the more closely spaced infill drilling is what our next game plan is.
Gerardo Del Real: No, listen, I am loving the cross sections there in the news release. I got to highlight someone on social media. I always say social media isn't real, but he or she actually does really good work on cross-sections and the modeling of the deposit. So if you guys are ever on X, Twitter, whatever people call it these days @Pete_Panda does a phenomenal job with the geometry of deposits as he's interpreting it and cross sections and interpretation of stuff.
And I always look forward to seeing those models, so kudos to Q2 for putting the cross sections in there. Kudos to him or her for getting the modeling work done and just presenting it in a very, “I'm not charging you for it, just come take a look, I'm interested, I'm invested, and come look at how beautiful this project is.”
You mentioned the inferred resource, any expectation on when we can see a peek through that window there on what you might have there?
Neil McCallum: Yeah, I mean, we'll have press coverage when we get to it. It's a matter of how fast we're drilling it off to get to that level, so it's going to depend on how many resources we're putting into it. So we're starting up the season relatively light, but we've got the ability to ramp up easily with additional capital. So we'll kind of wait and see on sending out expectations for that inferred. Our current goal right now is the exploration target, and that'll help things along to get the vision out there of what the potential is for the project with our own numbers on paper so that people can have an understanding.
Gerardo Del Real: No, listen, I think it's an exciting milestone for the company to work towards. I hate the term, but we're starting to see green shoots in the lithium space a little bit more often than we did in the first half of the year. That bodes really well for the second half of the year, and obviously bodes well for the quality names like the Q2's of the world. Neil, anything to add to that?
Neil McCallum: No, I mean, we're ready to launch as one of the, we own this project a hundred percent, it's just got the right to be quickly advanced. So we're kind of waiting for that right moment and I think everything in the background in terms of the lithium market to do a little turn is ready to go, so we're ready to go as soon as that happens.
Gerardo Del Real: Excellent. Neil, thanks for taking time. Looking forward to having you back here when the time calls. Appreciate it.
Neil McCallum: Yep, likewise, as always.
Gerardo Del Real: All right, cheers now.
