Lion Rock Resources (TSX-V: ROAR)(OTC: LRRIF) — currently trading around C$0.23 per share at a sub-C$20M market cap — has reported high-grade gold assay results from its latest surface sampling program at the 100%-owned Volney Project, located in the Black Hills Mining District of South Dakota.
The flagship Volney Project sits on 142 hectares of privately held land with full surface and mineral rights, allowing for fast-tracked permitting and near-term drill program execution.
The latest batch of results highlights multiple gold-bearing zones, including float samples grading as high as 189.5 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and bedrock chip samples up to 14 g/t gold.

The findings confirm the presence of strong surface mineralization across several underexplored areas and support Volney’s growing profile as a multi-commodity project (gold, lithium, tin) with district-scale upside potential.
Lion Rock Resources CEO Dale Ginn commented on the positive gold assay results at Volney via press release:
“These results underscore the exceptional potential of the Volney Project. We're seeing strong gold grades across multiple zones which confirm the presence of high-grade mineralization at surface. Combined with promising lithium and tin values and the advantage of private land ownership, Volney represents a truly unique and exploration opportunity for Lion Rock.”
Sampling outlined a 260-meter gold-bearing shear zone in bedrock that remains open along strike. A total of 20 chip samples collected from outcrops returned grades exceeding 0.5 g/t gold often associated with quartz veining or sheared greenstone host units.
Float sampling also yielded impressive results with 41 samples exceeding 1.0 g/t gold and seven samples over 10 g/t, culminating in a peak assay of 189.5 g/t gold. Gold mineralization was identified in both greenstone-hosted systems and in younger Tertiary-age veins and breccias, further expanding the geologic potential of the property.
Importantly, Volney continues to demonstrate strong lithium and tin potential alongside gold. Recent sampling returned lithium grades up to 5.3% Li₂O from historic stockpiles and up to 3.7% Li₂O from outcrop.
Thirteen samples also reported tin values over 1.0% Sn, highlighting the potential for valuable by-product recovery.
Volney is situated approximately 20 kilometers southwest of Spearfish in the prolific Black Hills, a region known for producing over 62 million ounces of gold, including from the nearby Homestake Mine.
The Volney project hosts the 635-meter-long Giant Volney Pegmatite, an LCT-type spodumene-bearing structure that remains untested at depth.

Earlier surface sampling confirmed lithium-bearing pegmatites over a 1,000-by-500-meter corridor. A total of 26 outcrop samples exceeded 1.0% Li₂O, including grades up to 3.7% Li₂O from an unsampled pegmatite located more than 600 meters from the historically known Giant Volney Pegmatite.
Additionally, 43 samples from historical mine stockpiles surpassed 1.0% Li₂O with 26 samples from the pit area averaging 3.8% Li₂O. Several of these tin stockpile samples also contained elevated lithium, supporting the interpretation that multiple pegmatites across the property are mineralized.
Lion Rock is preparing for its first-ever drill program at Volney scheduled to commence in Q2 2025. This will be the first modern drilling effort on the property and will test both gold and lithium mineralization (and tin) at depth. Previous drilling was limited to shallow depths under 50 meters yet still managed to intersect mineralized zones in all eight historical holes near the Rusty Mine Shaft.
The upcoming drill program will target extensions of high-grade historical gold zones — including one historical interval of 18.2 g/t Au over 18.3 meters — as well as the continuity of lithium-rich pegmatites identified during recent sampling.
With assays pending from additional surface samples and permitting streamlined as a result of private land ownership, Lion Rock is well-positioned to efficiently execute its exploration strategy at Volney.
The company’s systematic approach — combining historic validation, targeted surface exploration, and upcoming drilling — aims to unlock the full potential of the Volney project as a new source of high-grade gold and lithium in a proven mining jurisdiction.
